Course Description

This formative assessment provides anesthesia residents at SGH with a comprehensive multiple-choice examination focusing on key principles of IV anesthetic pharmacology. The assessment is part of the 2025–2026 residency academic framework and is designed to reinforce understanding of induction agents, their mechanisms of action, clinical applications, contraindications, and physiologic effects.

Trainees will evaluate concepts related to propofol, ketamine, thiopental, etomidate, and benzodiazepines—emphasizing safety profiles, cardiovascular and respiratory effects, ICP/IOP considerations, and agent selection for special populations. The assessment supports continuous learning, identifies knowledge gaps, and prepares residents for annual progression and board-oriented exams.
