Course Description
The “SGH Acute Care Surgery Conference 2025: Trauma, Critical Care, Emergency General Surgery and Beyond” is a two-day scientific event (5 FRI - 6 SAT, December 2025) focusing on trauma, critical care, and emergency general surgery. Designed for Residents, Specialists, and Surgeons, it aims to bridge knowledge gaps in modern trauma management, robotic surgery applications, enhanced recovery pathways, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Through expert lectures, debates, and case-based discussions, participants will gain updated, evidence-based insights to optimize patient outcomes and improve coordination between surgical and critical care teams across Saudi Arabia.

What will you learn?
I. Apply evidence-based Enhanced Recovery After Surgery principles in emergency surgical settings to improve perioperative outcomes.
II. Evaluate contemporary trauma resuscitation practices by comparing circulation-airway-breathing with airway-breathing-circulation approaches, and justify the most effective strategy in clinical scenarios.
III. Analyze the current role, benefits, and limitations of robotic surgery in emergency surgical cases to determine appropriate indications for use.
IV. Discuss the operative and perioperative management strategies for complex abdominal injuries, including decision-making for high-risk trauma cases.
V. Design safe and effective surgical approaches that address the unique challenges of acute care surgery in elderly patients and pregnant patients.
